You probably want to work with someone who specializes and works with the issues you're having. But you can't seem to find someone you connect with and has experience where you live.
This is why I provide online therapy to people living in Tennessee.

Signs it's time to reach out to a therapist via telehealth:
Worrying and being tough on yourself sometimes is normal. But when it happens more often or to a greater degree, it may be time for help. Signs it's time to see a therapist vary from person to person. But, here are a few concerns to consider when thinking about starting online therapy:
- a need for control.
- trouble sleeping or sleeping too much.
- not spending time with friends or family.
- “latching on” really quickly in relationships.
- irritability or getting angry easily when that’s just not normal for you.
- insisting that no one likes you.

I’ve been offering the option of online therapy since 2019. My clients seem to enjoy having the option to meet with me online when they can't make it my Franklin, TN counseling office. I love seeing my online clients make progress just as my in-office clients make. I work with teens and young adults, who are used to using technology, so online therapy seems very natural to them.
Anxiety and low self-esteem can get even worse if you’re stuck in a place where you can’t get the help you need. In online therapy I see folx dealing with anxiety, worry, relationship issues, depression, low self-worth, or people who generally feeling stuck or lost. Together, we do amazing work helping you overcome the things that are bothering you by using the great technology that’s available to us.

My Approach to Online Therapy
My online therapy approach is very similar to the in-office approach. Not physically being in the same room won't stop us from doing therapy as usual.
Counseling with me is pretty laid back. We definitely talk about serious stuff, but it doesn’t have to be 100% “business” if that’s not your style. Therapy looks different for each person, based on needs, wants, and personality. One thing is for sure – we focus on what’s important to you. My goal as a therapist is to make sure that you feel like we’re going in the right direction and you're finding relief from the things that are bothering you.
During online therapy, we look at things that can be changed in your life so you can have some quicker relief. For example, you will learn coping skills and how your thoughts affect you. But, I believe that finding where problems started (root causes) helps to create longer-lasting change. Sometimes those root causes aren’t so obvious. So, it can be super helpful to find what's under your issues and sort through those things.
It’s also important to simply “get things out,” so we’ll do that, too. This includes talking about your feelings, but it doesn’t have to stop at that. There’s no judgment here, so you can 100% be yourself, and “get out” whatever you need or want to.

What is Online Therapy?
Online therapy is also called telehealth, online counseling, e therapy, and distance counseling. Regardless of what you call it, research shows that online therapy is very effective. It is generally done online through a program that is similar to FaceTime or Skype. But, we use a program that's a little more secure and HIPAA-approved.
Don't worry, it is really simple to operate. You get the same counseling that would take place in a therapy office, just on the computer.
