Online Therapy

You can't make it into the office. But that doesn't stop life from happening.

We're here for you with Online Therapy.

Your teen or young adult...

  • is an absolute perfectionist and it’s causing them trouble.
  • has been worrying a lot, and you don’t understand why.
  • cries a lot, even when there may not be any reason.
  • constantly berates themselves.
  • seems to have a need to prove themselves.

While they’re dealing with one or more these things, there may not be a conveniently located resource to help. Maybe your schedule doesn't allow you to make it into the office. You probably want to work with someone who specializes and works with these types of issues often, but that’s not available in every location. This is why I provide online therapy.

Symptoms to watch for:

Worry, feeling down on themselves – those things will happen sometimes. But at some point, it happens more often or to a greater degree. It looks different for different people, but some things you may be seeing beyond what’s expected include:

  • a need for control.
  • trouble sleeping or sleeping too much.
  • not spending time with friends or family.
  • “latching on” really quickly in relationships.
  • irritability or getting angry easily when that’s just not typical of them.
  • insisting that no one likes them.

Online therapy can help to overcome anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem – even when you can’t make it into the office.

I’ve been offering the option of online therapy since 2019, and people usually enjoy it. I love seeing my online clients make progress just as my in-office clients make. Working with teens and young adults, most find it to have a very natural feel.

Anxiety and low self-esteem can be even worse when you’re stuck in a place where you can’t get the help you need. Through online therapy, I’ve seen folx dealing with worry, relationship issues, depression, low self-worth, and generally feeling stuck or lost – and we do amazing work through the great technology that’s available to us.

My Approach to Online Therapy

My online therapy approach is very similar to the in-office approach. Not physically being in the same room won't stop us from doing therapy as usual.

Counseling with me is pretty laid back. We definitely talk about serious stuff, but it doesn’t have to be 100% “business” if that’s not your style. Therapy looks different for each person, based on needs, wants, and personality. One thing is for sure – we focus on what’s important to you and make sure that you feel like we’re going in the right direction.

We definitely look at things that can be changed right now for quicker relief, like coping skills and how thoughts affect us. But I believe that finding where problems started (root causes) helps to create longer-lasting change. Sometimes those root causes aren’t so obvious, and it can be super helpful to find what's under your issues and sort through those things.

It’s also important to simply “get things out,” so we’ll make sure we’re doing that, too. This definitely includes feelings, but it doesn’t have to stop at that. There’s no judgment here, so you can 100% be yourself, and “get out” whatever you need or want to.

What is Online Counseling?

Online counseling is generally done online through a program like FaceTime Skype. For counseling, we use a program that's a little more secure and HIPAA-approved (and really simple to use). We do the same counseling that would take place in an office - we just do it through the computer.
